Mechanical testing

The material-laboratory houses equipment for tensile, bending, pressure, impact and hardness testing.
We perform tests on welds and base materials according to national and international standards.

Chemistry

Characterisation of metals and identification of alloying elements is performed, among other methods,
through optic emission spectroscopy and microscopy. Our lab also perform chemical analysis and
smelting process tests of deposits, limestones and smelts, as well as corrosion/intercrystalline corrosion
tests on austenitic stainless steels.

Environment

Safe Controls laboratory offer a wide array of services on ecologically harmful materials. We can provide
solutions that can form a base for handling these materials considering workplace environment,
decontamination and deposition. The laboratory performs and attends to analyses of the occurrence of,
among other things, asbestos, PCB, mildew and heavy metals in samples such as construction materials,
soil and water.

Metallography

Safe Control has a well equipped laboratory for metallographic examinations. Examples of subjects for
examination are corrosion, overheating, fatigue and erosion. The laboratory performs examinations
with the purpose of investigating the cause of damages in connection to breakdowns. Our personnel
have worked on commissions from insurance companies, the process industry and the
Swedish Accident Investigation Board (Statens Haverikommission). As a special service we perform
replica evaluations and analyses of creep and overheating damages. The operation is mainly aimed
towards the process industry where production stops are costly.

Engineering workshop

Safe Control Material Technology has a machine hall well suited for the manufacture of test specimens.
The workshop also performs custom manufactures for testing, as well as heat treatment. Among our
clients you find the nuclear industry, welding companies and material suppliers. We cooperate
extensively with other control companies as well as following classification societies:
American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas (BV), Det Norske Veritas (DNV),
Germanischer Lloyd (GL), Lloyd´s Register (LR) samt RINA.
